My conclusion

hi guys,
To conclude, I would like to say few words:
France is it just bread and cheese?
England is it just posh and pride people?
Scotland s it just about kilts ans scotch?
Belgium is it just about fries and jokes?
So many of us have prejudices about countries, we don't even realise.
Would you like to go to another country and people see in you just bread and cheese?
How upset would you feel?
We have to be careful sometimes, when we meet people from different nationalies,
ask them about something you don't know about their country,
ask them why they do in a way that is different from our,
just be curious!
don't focus on things you think you know about them! I'm sure you can learn a lot!
We all have something to learn about each other!

Belgian joke

1. You get to speak three languages, but none of them intelligibly.

2. If other countries want to fight a war, they will do it in your country.

3. You can brew drinks out of fruit, and still call it beer.

4. You are either
a. like the Dutch, just less efficient
b. like the French, just less romantic
c. like the Germans

5. Decent fries. Real mayonnaise. Great chocolate. The best beer.

6. No one knows anything about you, except for the Dutch and French and they make fun of you.

7. More scandals in a week than any other country in a decade.

8. You can drive like a maniac on the road and nobody cares

9. All your famous countrymen are either imaginary, or sex-offenders

10. Face it. It's not really a country, is it?

Let's face it!
that's the general ideas that french people have of belgian's.
"They're not a country!"How many times have we been saying that?Honestly...
they're nice people, eating fries and chocolate, drinking beers...
But did you know that they have the same kind of jokes about us?

"Pourquoi les Français ont-ils choisi le coq comme emblème ?
C'est le seul animal capable de chanter les pieds dans la merde. "

"Pourquoi les Français aiment-ils tant les histoires belges ?
Parce qu'elles les font rire trois fois :
La première quand on les leur raconte
La deuxième quand on les leur explique,
et la troisième quand ils les comprennent ."

Sorry I didn't found any in english but well, I just wanted to give a glimpse of the kind of jokes that they make about us,
do you know any?
please if you do, share it with us!

Nicolae Guta-Gigolo

Sunt frumos ce fata am de gigolo
Mor femeile de mine ce misto
Niciuna din sat nu mi-a scapat
Si-acum sigur unul iar m-a reclamat.

I'm gorgeous, Such a gigolo face I have
Women are all crazy about me, So cool
No one in the village didn't fall in love with me
And now, the is one for sure who complained in the police office by jalousy

Refren/ Chorus

Bate-n noapte cineva
Cu parul la poarta mea
Daca e politia….
Ce ma fac ca iar ma ia.

Someone at the middle of the night knocking
with a cudgel at the door
If it's the police
What will I do if they they catch me.

Bun la toate, bun la munca, bun la pat
Cum la mine-n sat nu e nici un barbat
Toate fug de acasa cum le-am invatat
Aoleu ce mai scandal am provocat.

Good in everything, good at work, good in the bed
As there isn't any other guy in the village.
All the girls escape from their family home as I teached to them
« Ohlala » Such a mess I provocked !

romanians and poverty

The Romanians seen by The French
One of the prejudice concerning the Romanians is linked to their appearance. Usually we say that Romanians have dark skin and dark hair. As we associate dark skin with “dirty” and “ugly” this is equally the case for the Romanians. Some people say that children in Romania are sweet which is is a good thing but we know that the majority of the population is formed by adults who are apparently excluded from this category.
Moreover, having dark skin is not the big problem, these people migrate and we say in general that they are as many abroad as in their country. In France we have created some terms with pejorative connotation which point out the Romanians as : “romano”. When the French say “ romano” they think immediately at “ caravan” and the concept of “house” is rarely associated for these people. Some of stereotypes concerning the Romanians are so institutionalized that they created jokes such as : “ Romanians are sending their children to beg at the red light.
Being done that there are a lot of tramps from Romania , French people have the tendency to think that they don't have no honor and that they live shameless. Another stereotype joining the list is the connexion that we do between Romanians and prostitution, between Romanians and thefts. In addition to these we can say also that during the fall of the communism in 1989 the execution of Ceausescu which has been transmitted directly on television shocked the foreign opinion. So now people associate directly Romania with communism and the image of the dictator.

What about Italian people ?

What about Italian people ?

Please ... don’t tell me that you don’t like them !
My origins are from Italy…this time I know this is true !

I am even able to pronounce my Italian name !
Like any other people , some people are “good” and other people are “bad”.
I could have prepared a list of the good ones, but it would be too long to do (ah! ah!).
Instead I found a link with the list already prepared for me : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Italians
No, I’m not « pro-Italian », I just LOVE Italy and his people.
I found some people who have the same opinion !
An American girl wrote :
“I went to Italy this past summer for two weeks. Although I only got to talk to a few, I got the impression that everyone's really relaxed and the guys love to joke. Also before I left, I always heard that Italian men love to flirt, but man, it's like a national past time there. I barely got out of the airport before someone came up to me. haha. It's also interesting to see how affection Italian men are, even compared to their women. Everyone hugs and kisses each other. It's sweet but I would never see that from a heterosexual American man. Italian women are so well-dressed and beautiful. However, it seems like that keep to themselves more compared to the men. Maybe it's because I'm a American girl that I was given the cold shoulder... but oh well. Thankfully it didn't happen too much. Most people were very friendly when I tried, I'm sure quite terribly, ask for things in Italian. And I love the fact that dinners last like three hours, it really gives you a chance to take time out of the day and spend lots of time with family and friends; I think this is a wonderful aspect of the culture. To say the least, I'm definevetely going back someday”.

Ok, Ok…this is a bit too much….. but I also heard people say that in Italy you’ve got a lot of corruption and the Mafia is present everywhere. It seems that the Mafia is present where there is no work for young people. The precise origins of the term Mafia are believed by some to originate in the 19th century, while others place it much further back in the history of Italy. Whatever the lexical origins of the term, organised crime has existed in Italy for over one hundred years and is today involved not only in common criminal activities, but also has influence in the Italian government, the judiciary and the political system.
The Italian Mafia is perhaps best known for its traditional criminal activities such as extortion and running protection rackets. Today’s Mafia in Italy, however, has become much more sophisticated and has diversified its portfolio of criminal activities. Drug dealing, kidnap, people trafficking, prostitution rackets, and the bribery of judges and politicians in Italy are all things that the Mafia deals with. But don’t worry, if you travel in Italy, you won’t be kidnapped …. If you are not in business with them, you won’t be in trouble !
I hope you have had the occasion to visit Italy, if not , it’s never too late to start !
